Black & White

George

While playing with Ryleigh's puppy George, I took the oppoutunity to get some photos of her. The darks and lights of her fur worked perfectly for a contrasted black and white photo. The contrats of the dark and light split background also adds an element of contrast to the image. The texture of her fur adds a detail that work well for black and white photography because the details along with the shadows in her fur become more detailed once put into a grayscale or monochromatic setting.

Sparks Flying

Ryleigh and I got the chance to have some fun the the sparklers and the camera. i wanted to catch the movent and rhythm of the sparks coming off of the sparklers as that principle of photography adds excitment to the photo while also guding the viewer through the image. I think the emphasis of the sparklers with the light composition used to move the viewers eyes across the photo pulls the attention to them which is what I wanted to have in the photo to add once I put it into black and white.

Men In Black

On Halloween, Ryleigh and I were dressed as Men in Black for halloween, which we thought would be the perfect opportunity to have some fun with black and white photography. I used the rule of simplifying the scene to keep Ryleigh and I as the main focus with no distractions in the background. This photo has a sense of balance because Ryleigh and I each take up half of the focus from the viewers which helps establish us each as an equal part of importance in the photo.

Vintage Coca-Cola

These vintage coke bottle worked perfectly for black and white photography because using a silvertone filter on the photo can enhance the vintage or classic style to the object. I wanyted to fill the frame by scattering the coke bottle vertically and horizontally, but also getting the reflection of them on the bottom of the image. I also turned the camera vertically to capture the whole image and add some length to the photo. The shape of the coke bottles with the light outlinign their unique shape adds a sense of shape or form to the photo as well.

Capturing a Memory in Time

I wanted to use the vintage camera to help capture the idea of locking a memory in time in a photo. I darkened the background or the negative space of the photo to enhance the positive space of the photo, which is Ryleigh holding the camera. I also darkened the background the help emphasize the subject and where I wanted to keep the viewers attention focused on.
