Refraction & Reflection

My first 3 photos are reflection, and my last 3 are refraction.

For my first photo I wanted to focus on the colour and the shape of the reflection created in this image. The warm tones against the cool blues compliment each other and add captivating detail to this photo. This photo also shows contrast and balance, the opposite colours have a strong contrast in the image and the opening angle of the sky reflecting on the lake adds balance to the photo. Lastly, this photo uses perspective by sky opening up, leading to the object, which is the boat.

For this image It uses the elements of colour and shape. The bright reflective colours ranging through the whole rainbow adds an eye catching detail throughout the photo. The photo also has multiple circle shapes from the cd and the water droplets, which add the reflection detail, then also add a sense of space into the image. This photo contains the principle of emphasis because the dark background help keep the attention on the cd and the water droplets. Lastly, this photo contains the rule of a simplified background.

My last reflection photo uses shape from the mirrors framing the subject into specific placing, while removing part of them from the image. This photo also creates some unity because the warm and cool colours connect all parts of the image together, then also the different textures of the leaves and her hair connect everything together.

My first refraction photo uses texture and form. The texture of the dirt with the leaves add some interest and extra details to help add to the photo. This also uses form from the different shapes of the leaves surrounding the glass ball pulling attention to the middle. I used emphasis with the leaves being blurred to pull the main focus on the leaf that is placed in the center of the glass ball.

For this next photo i used a glass of water placed in front of my laptop with a colour pattern photo. This photo uses colour by the different colours flowing around the image adding a pop that keeps the viewers eyes intrigued. This photo also uses pattern from the unique flow of the background moving around the object. Lastly this photo has interesting and repeated flowing curves that help the viewer observe the whole image.

For my last photo this uses space by focusing the glass ball taking up positive space in the image and filling the background making the photo complete. This also uses unity because the blurred background completes the image surrounding the glass ball and the opposite directions balance each other in the image. I used the glass ball to frame Ryleigh's face to keep the viewers attention on the main subject.
